Dear Mr. President,
The humanity in me continues trying to respect the humanity in you despite your endless use of words as weapons, #fakenews and #alternate facts.
I think we can agree the “[p]rofessional anarchists, thugs and paid protesters” that showed up, and turned a peaceful protest violent, are a disgrace to the process. However, most protesters that night were students exercising their constitutional right to peaceably assemble and protest the planned speech of Milo Yiannopoulos, who clearly had the constitutional right to freedom of speech at UC Berkeley, the birth place of the Free Speech Movement.
I believe that Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “[n]onviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals.”
While I certainly hope the “[p]rofessional anarchists, thugs and paid protesters” stay home next time, Mr. President, you are not a king to whom we all must capitulate! I believe those of us who disagree with you, your policies and the way in which you are implementing them should continue gathering, and peacefully protesting, because that will be the “sword that heals” the rift between the minority of “millions who voted to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” and the majority of people who voted otherwise.
